Becoming a Bar or Bat Mitzvah with MitzvAcademy

At Mitzvacademy, we believe every student deserves a meaningful, personalized journey toward their Bar or Bat Mitzvah. Our program is designed to meet each learner where they are—building confidence, deepening Jewish knowledge, and creating a joyful connection to tradition. We partner with families every step of the way, ensuring that each student feels supported, proud, and prepared for their special day.

Meet Rabbi Klayman

We’re proud to partner with Rabbi Michael Klayman, a warm and experienced leader, to support our students on their Bar and Bat Mitzvah journey. Rabbi Klayman brings over 40 years of experience as a Conservative rabbi, having served congregations in Port Washington, New Jersey, and most recently as the head rabbi at Lake Success Jewish Center. In addition to his pulpit work, he led the synagogue’s Hebrew school and guided countless students through their Bar and Bat Mitzvah preparations. Now retired from his formal pulpit, Rabbi Klayman is excited to continue his passion for teaching and Jewish leadership by working with our Mitzvacademy students. His wisdom, warmth, and dedication are a gift to our community.

B'Nai Mitzvah Logistics

One of the unique benefits of working with MitzvAcademy is the flexibility we offer for your child’s B’nai Mitzvah. Since we are not affiliated with a synagogue, families have the freedom to choose the date and location that feels most meaningful to them. Whether you envision the service in a backyard, a restaurant, a catering hall, or even your own living room, we will help bring your vision to life. Rabbi Klayman and the MitzvAcademy team ensure that all necessary Judaic materials—such as a Torah scroll, prayer books, and other ritual items—are provided and prepared. We work closely with each family to create a beautiful, personalized, and stress-free B’nai Mitzvah experience.

B'Nai Mitzvah Preparation Pricing

The B’nai Mitzvah package for the year is $3,000 and includes:

  • 21 tutoring sessions with Rabbi Klayman. Rabbi Klayman will meet with your child twice a month throughout most of the year to support their B’nai Mitzvah preparation, with sessions increasing in frequency as the big day approaches. If your child attends sleepaway camp or has scheduling conflicts, you’ll work directly with Rabbi Klayman to ensure all 21 sessions are completed in a way that works for your family.

  • MitzvAcademy’s full support throughout the preparation process. This includes guidance on the D’var Torah, help planning and completing a mitzvah project, coordination with the rabbi, and assistance preparing for the service itself. We’re here to ensure every student feels supported, confident, and proud as they approach this important milestone.

*The fee for Rabbi Klayman’s coordination and leading of your child's b’nai mitzvah service is still being finalized as we consider various factors and costs.

*The cost covers only the B’nai Mitzvah lessons with Rabbi Klayman/MitzvAcademy's assistance in preparing your child for the big day, it does not include the enrollment tuition for Hebrew School that year.
